Minas Argentinas SA, operator of the Gualcamayo mine and part of the Aisa Group, received approval for the seventh update of its Environmental Impact Report. This is a very important milestone for the company because, on one hand, it confirms all actions taken during the evaluated period, and, fundamentally, it initiates the permitting process for the new Deep Carbonates Project.
The seventh update of the Environmental Impact Report was submitted and approved following the new regulations established by the Ministry of Mining Decree 7-2024, so the entire process took 6 months of management, as stipulated by the regulation. This approval also includes the fifth and sixth updates, which were timely submitted by Minas Argentinas to the regulatory authority.
The most significant aspect of this approval relates to the inclusion of work that will be necessary for the Deep Carbonates Project (DCP). This venture, which is currently advancing in its engineering and technical and economic feasibility, will provide productive life to Gualcamayo for at least another 20 years.
The original authorization for Gualcamayo to begin operations was granted through the approval of its Environmental Impact Declaration, which occurred in 2007. As the regulations indicate, the respective updates were submitted biannually, which included the work carried out and what was projected for the next stage of the mine.
In this seventh update, Minas Argentinas has already begun to include aspects related to the new mine and the new work that will need to be carried out for it.
